Dermal Fillers in Atlanta, GA

Dermal fillers replace the volume the face loses over time, in the cheeks, under the eyes and around the mouth, in a non-surgical visit with Dr. Arshia Payman at ANEWU.

What they are

What are dermal fillers, and how do they work?

Short answer

Dermal fillers are injectable gels, most often hyaluronic acid based, placed under the skin to replace volume the face loses with age. At ANEWU, Dr. Arshia Payman uses them to refill hollow cheeks and under-eyes, soften nasolabial folds and marionette lines, and add shape to the lips and jawline.

If you have ever wondered why a face can look tired when nothing about it has changed shape, this is usually why. Volume sits under the skin, not on it, so creams cannot reach it. A filler puts that support back where it drained away, which is why the change reads as rested rather than treated.

Fillers are one part of facial aesthetics at ANEWU, and they are often planned next to a treatment that works on a different layer of the face.

Why volume matters

Faces do not simply wrinkle. They empty out.

Fat pads, and the bone underneath them, shift and thin with age. The cheek loses its high point, the under-eye hollows, and skin once held up by something now folds instead. That is why a line beside the mouth deepens without the skin itself changing.

Fillers work on that missing layer directly. Dr. Payman treats the structure first, in small amounts, then decides whether the surface still needs anything.

Nasolabial foldsThe creases from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth, which deepen as cheek volume falls.
Marionette linesThe lines running from the corners of the mouth toward the chin, from the same loss of support.

Is this you

Am I a candidate for dermal fillers?

You are likely a candidate for dermal fillers if you have noticed volume loss in the cheeks, temples or under-eyes, if folds around the mouth show even at rest, or if you want fuller lips without surgery. Dr. Payman confirms candidacy at a free consultation in Buckhead, Cumming or Dawsonville.

  • You have noticed flattening or hollowing in your cheeks, temples or under-eyes.
  • Nasolabial folds or marionette lines bother you even when your face is still.
  • You want fuller, better balanced lips, which may point toward lip treatments.
  • You want a non-surgical way to refine cheek or jaw contour.
  • You would rather start small and build than change everything at once.
  • You are in good general health and ready to map a plan at a free consultation.

The appointment

What happens during a dermal filler appointment?

A dermal filler visit at ANEWU begins with a facial assessment, then the agreed areas are injected in the office, usually inside an hour. Comfort measures such as topical numbing are used where appropriate. You leave the same day with visible change, and a follow-up visit is available to review and refine it.

  1. 1

A free consultation and facial assessment

Dr. Payman looks at your face at rest and in movement, listens to what is bothering you, and maps which areas actually need volume. Some of what people ask for turns out to be better handled elsewhere, and she will say so.

  2. 2

    The in-office treatment visit

Injections are placed in the mapped areas with comfort measures as needed. Most visits finish inside an hour, with no general anesthesia and no surgical recovery to plan around.

  3. 3

A follow-up to review and refine

Filler keeps settling over the first week or two. A follow-up lets Dr. Payman judge the settled result rather than the day-one one, and adjust if an area needs it.

The two solve different problems. This is the honest version of the difference, so you can tell which conversation you are having.

Individual results vary. Dr. Payman will tell you if fillers are the wrong tool for what you want changed.

Cost and financing

How much do dermal fillers cost in Atlanta?

Dermal filler cost at ANEWU depends on how many areas are treated and which product each area needs, so it is quoted after a free consultation rather than from a price list. Dental and medical insurance does not typically cover facial aesthetics. ANEWU accepts CareCredit and Proceed Finance, plus Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

Insurance and facial aesthetics

Facial aesthetics is elective treatment, so dental and medical plans do not usually pay toward it.

It also means no benefit year to race and no pre-authorization to wait on. You can treat one area now and another later without anything expiring.

Ways to spread the cost

ANEWU works with CareCredit and Proceed Finance, and accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Monthly payment plans are available if that helps the timing.

The real worry

Will dermal fillers make me look overdone?

Not when treatment is conservative and matched to your own proportions. Dr. Payman plans dermal fillers around the face you already have rather than a template, treats in stages where that is the safer route, and reviews the result at a follow-up. Results vary, and she will say when an area is better left alone.

If you have ever wondered why some filler work announces itself across a room, it is almost always volume placed without a plan: too much in one area, or an area filled because it was asked for rather than because it was empty. Treating in stages is why results stay quiet.

Patients describe that in their own words on our patient stories page.

  • Fuller cheeks and lips that stay in proportion with the rest of your face.
  • Softened under-eye hollows, nasolabial folds and marionette lines.
  • A plan built around your anatomy, not a fixed template.

Individual results vary and are discussed at your free consultation.

One plan, one place

Fillers rarely work alone, and they are not meant to.

Volume, movement and skin quality are three separate problems, and a face usually has some of each. Fillers answer the first. Botox answers the second, and laser resurfacing the third. Dr. Payman often sequences two of them in one plan rather than treating a single thing and hoping.

ANEWU is an oral and facial surgery practice, which is the other half of it. Facial aesthetics sits alongside implant and jaw surgery led by Dr. Abtin Shahriari, an oral surgeon specializing in implant dentistry, so when a case touches both, the plans are made in the same building instead of referred out.

Most dermal fillers used in facial aesthetics are hyaluronic acid based gels. Hyaluronic acid is a substance the body already produces, which is part of why these gels sit comfortably within your own tissue. Dr. Payman names the specific product she recommends for each treatment area at your consultation.

Dermal filler results are not permanent. How long they hold depends on the area treated, the product used and how quickly your body breaks the gel down, so the cheeks and the lips do not behave the same way. Dr. Payman gives you a realistic maintenance timeline for your own plan.

Mild bruising, swelling or tenderness at the injection points is possible, and it usually settles within a few days. Dr. Payman goes over simple aftercare before you leave, including what to avoid for the first day. Call ANEWU at (470) 288-9655 if anything looks or feels unexpected.

Dermal fillers add volume under the skin, so they address hollowing and folds that are visible at rest. Botox relaxes the muscles that create expression lines, so it addresses movement. Many patients at ANEWU use both, and Dr. Payman often plans them together in a single visit.
